Not much needs to be said about the California Planned Parenthood that is planning on hosting 40 days of prayer for abortion, but one of their prayers is worth quoting: “Today we pray for a cloud of gentleness to surround every abortion facility. May everyone feel calm and loving.”

40 Days of Prayer for Abortion

Today we pray for a cloud of gentleness to surround every abortion facility. May everyone feel calm and loving.

There will be no cloud of gentleness for children in the womb so unfortunate as to have their mothers within the walls of those abortion facilities.

I suspect that abortionists find it impossible to really feel “calm and loving” as they dismember innocent children. Their warm smiles for their customers must be a facade that is sometimes difficult to maintain. They would experience a lack of inner peace, one would think, that is due to an anxiety about what they are doing that they just can’t completely and finally suppress once and for all. Maybe this is what makes them feel the need to pray for “calm and loving” feelings. Could it be that that feeling of dread that keeps resurfacing in spite of their best efforts to suppress it – a feeling we sometimes experience when something is terribly wrong even if we aren’t sure what is making us feel that way – is the grace of God insisting to them that something is indeed terribly wrong?

Let’s hope and pray anyway, that they never succeed completely at suppressing what those who are fully human possess – an instinct to protect the young of our own kind – and that they never completely suppress the feelings of guilt and dread humans experience instinctively if not by God’s grace alone, when instead of protecting children they deliberately take their lives.

This is sick. Planned Parenthood should not feel calm, they should feel terrible! To be calm about this is to be, less face it, insane and somewhat pathological.

“Today we pray for a cloud of gentleness to surround every abortion facility. May everyone feel calm and loving.”

Not unlike the plea of many churches regarding divorce in their midst.

Or the plea for homosexual marriage.

    “Love” became heresy long ago.

having witnessed an abortion and never been able to forget the mangled torso, the hand and arm ripped off at the humerus, the fractured skull with an eye staring at me, the contorted face of the abortionist…. i must say that gee, abortion really is a “gentle” little event, a warm and fuzzy bath of love and peace.

i’m even humming along to kumbaya as i remember such “gentle” details.

It brings to mind a lyric from an old Kris Kristofferson song: “freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose.” There really is nothing that the left cares about. They are “shackled” by nothing — not marriage, not family, not children, not literature, not music, not God. And for a group that sneers at “consumerism,” they have reduced themselves to being mere consumers of convenience culture. Babies are particularly inconvenient. Only food deserves our methodical devotion; recipies our step-by-step “stations of the cross” — heaven forbid we don’t take the Rachel Ray or the Iron Chef seriously.
