Schall, S.J., widely known as a Catholic political theorist, philosopher, and author, and more locally known as teacher, guide, and genius of the shores of the Potomac, is set to retire at the end of this semester. Outstanding! Thank you for posting this note. Nothing warms the heart more on a cold day than a good Father Schall essay!

Yes! Fr. Schall is a treasure, and it would be very healthy for Georgetown U. to see how many people are hungry for the wisdom he provides….

I admire and have learned so much from Father James Schall, S.J. My friends and I consider him as an old school, bad-ass Jesuit: erudite but humble, leading the way to the good, the true and the beautiful.

His essays are always thought provoking and accessible, covering vast topics of man and his relation with God. From contemplating the pope’s encyclicals, Wednesday audiences, Islam, to politics, Father Schall points to “what is.” (One’s personal library should include his book “Another Sort of Learning”.)

I do hope a transcript or recording will be available for those who cannot attend Father Schall’s last lecture.

And Father Schall if you see this message: thank you thank you thank and Godspeed. Ad maiorem Dei gloriam!
