Good for her. In America, we should not be watching a person endure character assassination and the possible loss of livelihood because she has committed the sin of daring to hold a “politically incorrect” position. Carrie Prejean was asked a question and she answered it. In America, once upon a time, the people who referred to themselves as “liberal” believed that one was entitled to one’s opinion and to full respect for it. Currently in America, every diversity is celebrated except the diversity of thought. Sadly, some in the nation have decided that thuggery, rather than respectful, reasonable argument, is a more expedient means of persuasion. They think “agree, or be destroyed” is a legitimate argument, as is its flip-side; “shut up to be safe.”

What did I say a long time ago:

The fascist is whoever is trying to shut you up, shut you down, dis-employ you, silence you, cripple you or marginalize you for the crime of daring to fall out of step with the party and the conventional wisdom. Beware of them.

I guess we have moved beyond “beware of them.” Perhaps I should amend that to say, “be ready to fight them and for you constitutional right to live and work in freedom.”

And don’t think the fascists only exist in one party.

Let this be a lesson to young ladies everywhere, but especially young ladies who profess Christ; if you’re going to take off your top for a camera, be prepared (sooner or later) to have to answer for it, both in this world, and the next. But in this world, the chances are you will have to defend your nudity against the jeers, sneers and fake prudery of those “open-minded” folks who would never, for an instant, tolerate anyone telling them what they should or should not do with their own bodies, but will crucify you for the choices you made with your own. You’ll have to answer for it because when you profess yourself a Christian, you choose exile, and you will be held to a different standard, entirely, than the world’s.

And that is not a bad thing, but you girls must think about that.

In the next world, of course, you’ll have to answer to Christ, himself, who is much more merciful than the rest of us. He will likely ask you why you threw your pearls before swine.

He may gently ask you if you realized at the time that your actions could lead others into sin, by helping them to treat another human being (you) as a “thing”.

And I can tell you from personal experience: that is one awful question to have to contemplate and answer. The day one realizes that one’s actions do not remain static, but pulse out into the world to touch others (like ripples of water in a pebble-tossed pond) is a day that brings you to your knees. You taste the lick of flame, and you cry out for mercy.

Thankfully, there is mercy.

Watch Ms. Prejean’s whole statement. She’s not much of a speaker, but she gets it across. Color me surprised and impressed.

Good for Donald Trump, too, who has seriously ticked off some members of the press.
