For a young girl who is making a decision about an unplanned pregnancy. She wants to give the baby up for adoption but is being pressured to have an abortion. Lord, move her to stand up against pressure, to make the decision to love the little life inside her, and send her the support she needs to have her baby and to thrive.
I can’t imagine how difficult it is to be pregnant and be pressured by the people you trust, to kill the baby, rather than allow it it’s life. Particularly on this feast day of illumination, I am going to be storming heaven for this young lady and her unborn baby, and for those who are pressuring her, that their eyes may be opened to the fact that while they think they are urging an “expedient” solution, they are so very mistaken. Please join me!

I can’t tell you how many times in my work at a crisis pregnancy center I saw that the “choice” for abortion was really made by the boyfriend, father, or mother.

Our eldest daughter is 21 years old. She is a committed Christian, beautiful, an accomplished musician (piano and voice), and routinely described as “the nicest person I know.”
Her mom was 16 years old when she was born. She could have easily made the decision to kill her, but didn’t. My dad used to get tears in his eyes when thinking about that fact.
Prayers offered tonight for this dear girl—and the people around her—to choose life!

Every day when I wake up, I say a prayer for an unborn baby in danger of abortion whom I have “spiritually adopted”. I pray for each baby daily for 9 months. So far, I’ve adopted Maria, Benedict, Michael and Genevieve. I’m working on Mary (started the prayer Jan 1st so what other name could I choose?). If all Catholics would do this, think of how many babies we could save! More at this site:

Prayers going up, up, up! Girl, do what it’s right, not what it’s “easy.”
I know of two people who had an abortion. The rest of their lives were… sad. And a tad bitter. I don’t wish that upon anyone.

Two summers ago I went to the Bar Mitzvah celebration of the son of a friend. The young man was one of the most charming, intelligent, and well-prepared lads I’ve known. His mother had contemplated abortion when she discovered she was pregnant, but changed her mind after seeing a pro-life ad made by a Catholic group. Her only condition for the future adoptive parents of her son was that they should “believe in God.” How happy his adoptive parents were to take him home. The world would have been a much poorer place without him.
My prayers are with the young woman. May she be blessed with strength and courage.

I just saw the Priestly Celibacy video of In the Arena. Even if it was short, it was very well thought out! I especially liked your comment about remembering that marriage is also a vocation.
I do wish that they spent a little bit more time talking about the bishops, because while priests have been allowed to be married and have children, bishops who are married are not allow to have sex with their wives.

My friend has started the “spiritual adoption” program at our church. We pray daily for an unborn child to be spared. His own adopted son, Sean, came to him because Sean’s mother chose life…after having six previous abortions. Bob credits the spiritual adoption program for the miracle of how his son Sean came into his family. If you contact me, I’d be happy to send you Bob’s info; he goes to local churches with his family to share his story and encourage more people to pray for the unborn.

I will certainly pray for her and her baby. My wife and I have 7 children, 5 of whom were adopted.
We have a precocious 4 year old girl who, along with the others, is the absolute joy of our lives. Her biological mom was in prison for drugs and prostitution when she was born. She had all sorts of medical issues that showed up on the ultra-sounds. The doctors treating her birth mom strongly encouraged her to abort her baby. She did not, and the world is a much better place for it.

My daughter was 2 days away from an abortion when my husband and I found out and literally broke down a door where she was staying and took her home where we were, by the grace of God, able to convince her otherwise. Her beautiful boy was born 6 months later.
Prayer warriers on the job here!!!!

Prayers are often given for the unborn at our flat (in Slovakia).
I now think that the pro-life culture needs to work more on making adoption more acceptable — for the mothers who give up their babies. I’m certain the pro-abortion folk give more support to those who choose to kill; I think there are more stories of women who are prostitutes than of women who give up their babies.
