So I’m watching some of the DeMint thing on CNN. If presidential elections were based who would do best in the format of a pseudo-doctoral thesis defense to a friendly audience, Gingrich would be Emperor of the Universe. The one Robert P. George question I saw on gay marriage was solid and called forth a substantive answer, but I wish you had Douglas Holtz-Eakin there to ask questions on economics and that the panelists were more aggressive about following up their questions. You should go out of your way to see Gingrich’s performance. It is a thing of beauty in its way and a reminder of why people used to take him seriously.
While I have you, can I ask you something? I’ll be quick.
Twenty-five thousand people subscribe to First Things. Why can’t that be fifty thousand? Three million people read First Things online like you are right now. Why can’t that be four million?
Let’s stop saying “can’t.” Because it can. And your year-end gift of just $50, $100, or even $250 or more will make it possible.
How much would you give to introduce just one new person to First Things? What about ten people, or even a hundred? That’s the power of your charitable support.
