Archbishop Anthony Fisher is the ninth Archbishop of Sydney, Australia. He has earned degrees in history and law from the University of Sydney and a doctorate in philosophy from Oxford University. He joined the Dominican Order in 1985 and became a priest in 1991. Archbishop Fisher has published extensively on variety of subjects and has lectured at several universities, including the Australian Catholic University, the University of Notre Dame Australia, and the Melbourne, Australia’s John Paul II Institute, where he was founding Director. 

In 2003, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney; in 2010 Bishop of Parramatta; and in 2014 Archbishop of Sydney. He currently serves as a Member of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith; Congregation for Oriental Churches; Council for the Synod of Bishops; and an ordinary Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life. He is Vice President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and Chair of the Bishops Commission for Catholic Education.
